The beginning is always one of my favorite parts in stories. It is the summation of the right place and the right time - that moment when you have found something that will impact your life but just have not realized it yet. Suffice it to say these poems are inspired by that.<br />

<b>That Day</b><br />

Your void and my pain<br />Collided. Lovely meeting -<br />Serendipity<br />
<br />
<br /><b>Love</b><br />

Null love comes and goes.<br />Empty words and promises?<br />Sincere love returns.<br />

I was inspired by someone far from where I live. It's just that I was not able to post it here. I thought I'd let that person read it first.<br />
<br />
However, in a span of weeks, life changed. People come, but so few come and don't go. Suffice it to say that this person is not one of them.<br />
<br />
Well, that is life; but hey, it goes on. At least, I was able to create something :) Hope you like it.<br />

<br />
<div>
<b>I and You</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Lost in thought of you.</div>
<div>
Then, reality bites back:</div>
<div>
You don't think of me.</div>

I was a bit down today and I think that the weather sympathizes with me.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Clouds</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If I could hug clouds,</div>
<div>
I would and tell them, "Don't cry."</div>
<div>
Oh! They share my tears.</div>
<div>

<div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u><span style="color: blue;">Buildings</span></u></b></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">Blocks of stones in the distance</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">I can see them from afar in an instant</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">They block the view of beholders</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">I wish the horizon didn't have borders</span></div>
</div>

<br />
<b>"What do you want me to do to make you feel better?"</b> is the kind of question that will make you wonder if the person really cares for you or just want to get things over and done with. Of course, you may argue that it depends on context. Yes, it does.<br />
<br />
<b>"What do you want to happen?"</b> is that kind of question that will make you question your own answer. It is something that you really want or are the words that come out of your mouth different from what is in your heart?<br />
<br />
<b>"Can I give you a hug?" </b>is the kind of question that can make you cry in an instant, especially when you are trying so hard to keep yourself from falling into pieces.<br />
<br />
<b>"Can we start over?"</b> is the kind of question that either makes you believe in a second chance or in the saying "enough is enough," I still believe that everyone deserves a second chance, a clean slate in which one can rebuild his or her life without having to use the old crumbled foundation. However, I <br />
<a name='more'></a>also believe that forgiveness is different from a second chance. Yes, you can forgive (and you should if you want to live a lighter life) but you should know your limits. As Leann Rimes so musically state it, "Shame on you if you fool me once, shame on me if you fool me twice". Hence, you better make sure that the second chance you give or is given to you be used for a wise, good purpose and not to make the same stupid mistake again.<br />
<br />
There are so many questions in life. There are questions that can make you cry, there are questions you rather not answer, and then there are those questions that leaves you somewhere in the past, present, and future.<br />
<br />
There are so many answers to questions in life. Answers are important, but now, just today, I have realized that asking the right question is as important as giving a wise retort.<br />
<br />
<b>How can we know if we are asking the right question? Truly, there is no way of saying, and it depends on the situation you are in. However, maybe, just maybe, the right or kind questions are those that need nothing more than a word, a yes or a no, for an answer.</b><br />
<br />
If you think of it, that will really be the end of conversation should the person asking accept the answer without demanding any more reasons, and without the other party having to make excuses.<br />
<br />
Simple, right? Well, on second thought, maybe not. This is life after all, and there are certain aspects of it that did, is not, or will never make sense to humans, like you and me.J. M. Recently, I have taken interest in charcoal painting seeing
my colleague who does awesome charcoal portraits. I know this is a totally
different genre from my usual chibi and manga drawings but I really wanted to
learn how to make a charcoal portrait. </div>

I asked the help of my colleague <a href="http://www.touchtalent.com/artist/31432/sian-sajise" target="_blank">Sian Sajise</a>, and

I just want to do and to be better this 2016. I hope that I will remember and be able to apply the lessons I learned throughout 2015. Let's thrive and continue to be a blessing to others in our own way.<br />
<br />
Here's to new opportunities and to achieving our dreams:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1wILkFuvmI/VoVivn9Nb_I/AAAAAAAAAmI/ItYZaCDuUS4/s1600/503887f1bc1635607556e4fd57c13d24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1wILkFuvmI/VoVivn9Nb_I/AAAAAAAAAmI/ItYZaCDuUS4/s320/503887f1bc1635607556e4fd57c13d24.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D_f0QtagNu4/VoVi-BjfpAI/AAAAAAAAAmc/iau8ezk995I/s1600/motivational-quotes-new-year.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D_f0QtagNu4/VoVi-BjfpAI/AAAAAAAAAmc/iau8ezk995I/s320/motivational-quotes-new-year.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here's to writing our own story: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1cB9izjqkdE/VoVi9jh4DxI/AAAAAAAAAmY/K70Q8FTgYac/s1600/New-Year-Sayings-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1cB9izjqkdE/VoVi9jh4DxI/AAAAAAAAAmY/K70Q8FTgYac/s320/New-Year-Sayings-2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Most importantly, here's to forgiving ourselves, letting go of the past, and looking ahead: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sometimes I wonder if I have done something worthy or is doing something worthy.<br />
<br />
When I feel doubtful, I always think it is a nice thing to take a trip down memory lane and...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Remember</span></b></div>

I guess I just got so caught up in the realm of reality (and school) that I forgot I can find an escape, a solace, in this place.<br />
<br />
Well, I am still not going to write anything except for this my feeling lol. Perhaps "If I told you" by Plain White T's is the closest song that can describe it.<br />

<br />
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2429" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> I’m not a big fan of classic novels. The only one I have liked so far is Charlotte Bronte’s</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><em>Jane Eyre</em><span style="font-size: small;">. Well, thanks to Josh Groban’s “When You Say You Love Me” and a fan-made video of the 2005 film adaptation of</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><em>Pride and Prejudice</em><span style="font-size: small;">, I was introduced to Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy’s world.</span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2404" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">

This book also lets me differentiate women and the past and of today: how young ladies in the past see marriage as their ultimate goal, while women today often put career and independence their priority.</span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2404" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;"> After reading this novel, I now consider reading other classic romance novels. I think their stories have more depth compared to romance novels nowadays. Well, I hope I will not be too busy.</span></div>

<a href="http://nikkisbookreviews.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/city-of-bones.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" src="http://nikkisbookreviews.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/city-of-bones.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></span></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> The song “All about Us” by He is We featuring Owl City introduced me to the movie</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><em>The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones </em><span style="font-size: small;">and in turn, to the book of the same title by Cassandra Clare.</span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2436" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> Well, I like Cassandra Clare’s idea of integrating all fairy tales, legends, history, and other things from other books and from imagination into </span><span style="font-size: small;">one world. I like Cassandra Clare’s ideas of runes having magical powers, of shadowhunters saving the world from demons, and of Clairy discovering her connection with the shadowhunter world.</span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_3348" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">

Still, I consider the fact that this book is written for teenagers. Maybe, they don’t mind those parts at all, as evident by the books popularity and high sales. </span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_3351" style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">
<span id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_3350" style="font-size: small;"><span id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_3349" style="font-family: inherit;"> That being said, I don’t know when I will pick up the next book, or if I ever will. Surely, I want to know the continuation of the story. However, I want to save myself the trouble of encountering cringe-inducing dialogues and stories again. Perhaps, I’ll just wait for the next movie, that is, if it is to be made.</span></span><br />

<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2477" style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">

I couldn't read a whole chapter of <em>Seven Habits</em> without breaking into a reverie every now and then. Not that the book promotes daydream, on the contrary, I find it too thick with information, that my brain just would wander automatically after sometime.</span></span></div>
<div id="yui_3_13_0_1_1398873232230_2471" style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21.333332061767578px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; padding: 0px;">

I seldom have the chance to read books wherein characters have terminal illness, so reading this book made me sad. Still, I'm thankful that through this book, I now have deeper understanding of the sufferings of cancer patients, be it physically or emotionally, their apprehensions, and their concern for their family. I felt Hazel's pain of missing her future because of the illness that consumes her present. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;"> On the lighter side, this book has lines that totally cracked me up. John Green really did great in writing this book. There are not many authors who can make you laugh and cry at the same time.</span></div>

It's about time I read books again and share some things about them.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The last time, I mostly read fiction. Now, I'm going to read or reread these motivational books. As always, one book per month. I hope I have enough books for the next 11 months.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For now, here's what I have: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
*The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People- Stephen Covey</div>
<div>
*Failing Forward- John Maxwell</div>
<div>
*Think on These Things- John Maxwell</div>

I don't even know the elements of comics. Hence, when my friends told me to try my luck on a Bible comic, I hesitated.<br />
<br />
Still, I have long resolved to be a "yes girl" and not to be someone full of excuses, so I tried. Well, I'm really not expecting much. I just did it to prove to myself that I can also draw for comics (hopefully not the first and last).<br />
<br />
Here's my drawing. (I was told to make an anime/manga version of a comic strip, so I did.) Hope you like it.<br />

Stop thinking that we've lost our chance and time. Everything happens for a reason. Life is not all about years that pass by. It's about how we live, how we dream, and how we make our existence meaningful. Let's welcome 2014 with new hope. :)</div>

I think it's even better.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uf7dZh082Uw/UpyLWWzUa2I/AAAAAAAAAjU/BZNkdCVcIh4/s1600/Frozengroup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uf7dZh082Uw/UpyLWWzUa2I/AAAAAAAAAjU/BZNkdCVcIh4/s400/Frozengroup.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I haven't expected that this movie is also a musical. On the first song, I suddenly had a "Tangled" flashback and for a while I wondered if Disney is going to make all of its movies musical.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Frozen is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. However, the good thing about this movie is that the snow queen, Elsa, is not entirely evil. She just doesn't want to hurt people, especially her sister, Anna. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This movie is surely enjoyable and heartwarming, especially for sisters who have this love-hate-awkward relationship. Of course, it also shows how true love comes in an unexpected way.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<b style="background-color: #ead1dc;"> <span style="font-family: inherit;">Some things I
learned from Frozen: </span></b><br />
<div id="yui_3_13_0_ym1_1_1385991186655_2004" style="background-color: white; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;">(PS: With spoilers) </span></div>
<div style="background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #cfe2f3;"><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">*Do not fall
in love with a person you just meet. Most importantly do not get engaged with
him (or her).</b><br /><span style="background-color: white;">
Anna easily falls in love with Prince Hans, and the crazier part is that she
agrees to be engaged with him. At first, I thought that they share true love
since they even have their own music video in the film. Boy, I was wrong.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">It really is a
good lesson to control your heart and not fall in love with someone you barely
know. You wouldn't want to get your heart broken by a stranger, right?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">*Do not hide
in fear.</b><br /><span style="background-color: white;">
Elsa, in her fear to hurt other people especially her sister, Anna, spends most
of her time alone in her room. She gets to fully appreciate her powers again when it is revealed to everyone since she no longer has to
hide it. Thus, she is able to make beautiful things again with her
icy powers.</span><span style="background-color: white; font-size: x-small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vh1aho_hNCo/UpyLTbQQ1_I/AAAAAAAAAjM/if7cHzEaUjE/s1600/disney_frozen___i_came_for_you_by_rodrigoyborra-d5zzna0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vh1aho_hNCo/UpyLTbQQ1_I/AAAAAAAAAjM/if7cHzEaUjE/s320/disney_frozen___i_came_for_you_by_rodrigoyborra-d5zzna0.jpg" width="298" /></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">I</span>t makes me
think that fear, really, paralyzes us and hinders us from growing or harnessing
our potentials. I actually felt sorry for Elsa for having been trapped in that
room for so long without being able to use her powers or build relationships with other people. In real life, I think
there are also situations where we are trapped in fear of so many things. This
should not be, it's actually tiring to be scared all the time, right? Also, I
once read that most of the fears you have are 90% imagined.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">*An act of
true love comes in different shapes.</b><br /><span style="background-color: white;">
What I like about the film is that it does not give that ordinary
kiss-by-a-prince kind of "true love". Instead, Anna's choice to save
her sister from harm makes an act of true love deeper.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">*Accepting
yourself frees you.</b><br /><span style="background-color: white;">
When Elsa finally accepts her power and rejoices that she is free to do it
without any reason to fear she is able to do beautiful and magnificent things.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background: white; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This movie surely has a lot of fun and lessons, and it is also full of entertaining music like this </span><span style="background-color: transparent;">soundtrack. Enjoy. :)</span></div>

<br />
Just want to share this poem I made for a friend. I hope I can make more poems of this kind. :)J. M. Balotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12908476544274947136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3791825001378139147.post-47885752356832633202013-11-25T00:34:00.000+08:002013-12-01T02:24:04.650+08:00I'm sorry my blogIt's 12:15 in the morning. I'm supposed to be sleeping now because I need to wake up later at 6:00 am to start another week of work. However, I'm still here in front of the computer. I am usually like this when I don't want to sleep because I don't want my day to end just yet.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another reason is this guilty feeling of neglecting my blog. Gosh, the month's almost over and I haven't posted a single thing. What the heck happened to me? a) I was too busy b) I had no spare time c) time is running too fast now or d) all of the above.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Excuses. This can't continue, I have to do something to keep doing my fruitful distractions lol. Anyway, if I can spend three hours on a TV show marathon, I can definitely spend some time updating my blog.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's a note to myself</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://izquotes.com/quotes-pictures/quote-you-will-never-find-time-for-anything-if-you-want-time-you-must-make-it-charles-buxton-29141.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://izquotes.com/quotes-pictures/quote-you-will-never-find-time-for-anything-if-you-want-time-you-must-make-it-charles-buxton-29141.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
...so, I resolve to use every possible moment available to do something worthy (or distracting?) and to feed this blog with some pieces of me as much as I can because</div>

In this book, the main characters are transported to the story itself, the Inkworld. However, much to their surprise, everything has changed. It seems that the printed words no longer hold the story. They are just plain, dead words. Inkworld has become a more sinister place for everyone.<br />
<br />
This book has a darker story than the first one. For me, reading this was like a long, winding journey. It left me wondering if the story would really be as black as ink in the third book, or if I could finally reach a happy ending.<br />
<br />
I actually took a break from reading the third book, <i>Inkdeath</i>. This second book made me mentally and emotionally exhausted. I must prepare for the third one.<br />

Being emotional sometimes wakes the artist in us. This is my work while I was in a dilemma over something we call "love." :P</div>
